With 2021 upon us, it’s time for a new start and new opportunities to improve yourself in all facets of your life. Whether you have resolutions for the year or are just committed to bettering yourself, we want to help you live your best self in the new year. Here are a handful of CBD products to help you along the way.

1. Sleep Support

According to data from 2014, about 35 percent of adults get less than the recommended 7 hours of sleep per night. That doesn’t consider the quality of sleep, however. Sleep deprivation or a general low quality of sleep may contribute to a variety of health problems and makes getting through the day a real task.

CBD has been studied to see if may potentially help support restful sleep, though additional studies are still needed. Contrary to popular belief, CBD does not act as a sedative. Instead, it works on the body’s endocannabinoid system and may help promote a sense of physical and mental calmness. This could possibly help you relax at night and contribute to your natural sleep-wake cycles without tiring you out during the day.

Beyond CBD products, it’s a good idea to create a regular nighttime routine for when you go to bed as a way to help calm down your mind and ready yourself for peaceful slumber. Avoid electronics and anything with a glowing screen at least an hour before you go to bed.

If you’re interested in trying CBD, we recommend Herbal Renewals: Hemp Oil Spray 1oz (100mg CBD), 2oz (500mg CBD) for its ease of use and fast-acting results – a perfect addition to your bedtime ritual.

2. Post-Workout Routines

friends working out

The most popular resolutions every year revolve around getting fit. On your journey to personal fitness, you’ll likely deal with plenty of muscle discomfort, which can drag down your workouts and discourage you from maintaining a regular exercise routine.

While oral CBD oils and tinctures are still an option, topical creams infused with CBD offer more localized soothing properties as they don’t have to go through your entire digestive system. Although the exact mechanisms of action still require research, some studies suggest that CBD may help to increase the natural levels of endocannabinoids known for relieving pain. That said, our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any medical conditions and further studies are needed to confirm these early results.

Apply CBD creams and balms to your body after your workouts and before you head to bed.

We recommend Made by Hemp: Cooling CBD Salve (500mg CBD), a topical oil formulated to help you feel refreshed and moisturized after a hard workout.

3. Reduce Stress

Stress has become something of a national epidemic, particularly those in the 25 to 35 age range. Although certain types of stress are normal and even healthy, constant stress causes a flood of chemicals that affect your physiology and can result in disrupted sleep, problems with weight and digestion, and a weakened immune system, on top of general problems with mood and personal relationships.

There is a wide range of things you can and should do to reduce your stress and improve your mood, from breathing exercises and meditation to regular workouts to therapy. CBD products may be a tool you want to add in the arsenal as a possible asset to help reducing stress. While it may require further study, current research supports that CBD may help to reduce stress levels and improve overall mood, though studies are ongoing.

Use CBD oils and edibles alongside other activities, like exercise and spending time around loved ones.

We recommend Tasty Hemp Oil: CBD Softgel Capsules. Each capsule is packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and full-spectrum hemp oil extract.

4. Reward Yourself More Often

happy friends

When life has been difficult, the best thing you can do is to give yourself the gift of kindness. Pamper yourself when you need it. It will help your mood and keep you going, and CBD products may help in the process. CBD is available in a variety of forms, including bath bombs, creams, and edibles. When you’ve had an especially hard day, treat yourself to a CBD edible. Along with the CBD content, edibles offer a wealth of nourishing ingredients on top of delicious flavors.

We recommend Tasty Hemp Oil: Tasty Cocoas CBD Chocolates 40mg. There’s nothing quite as comforting as a rich, delicious chocolate bar, except for one that is also packed with CBD. Each box contains 2 or 4 pieces containing 10 mg of CBD each.

If you’re new to CBD or still want a little more info, please check out our post on why you shouldn’t be afraid to try CBD. Whatever your goals in the coming year, we hope that you can achieve them with a little help from CBD.

The belief is that Mana can do well by doing good, looking after its people, its customers, and the environment. The fact that they’re the first CBD company to become plastic negative reinforces this approach.

Steve is joined by co-founders Shimyrre Britt (who we’ll meet later) and Melinda Goossen, along with CEO Zak Garcia, in driving the business forward.

Watch Now: An “Actionable” Webinar

On the 21st of October, Healthy Hemp Oil founder and CEO, Brandon Nolte, joined Mana’s Head Herbalist and Director of Product, Shimyrre Britt, for the second part of our collaboration: An in-depth conversation around Herbs for Wellness.

Participants from far and wide tuned in live to view what Brandon described as an “actionable” webinar — and with good reason:

  • Shimyrre offered insight into the history of Mana, their products, and what makes them special, before leading the discussion on three important botanicals: Ashwagandha, Tulsi, and Turmeric.
  • She went onto explain how these herbs benefit the mind and body, and how they complement CBD, either as an ingredient in a hemp oil product or as a standalone supplement.
  • Brandon and Shimyrre then brought things to a close with a fascinating Q&A session, answering questions on how to incorporate these herbs, their flavor profiles, and serving sizes.

If you missed this live event, don’t worry! You can still access this hour-long, deep dive into the story of Mana and the power of Herbs for Wellness in just a few clicks. Sign up here for free.

In a separate bowl, beat your eggs and add your brown sugar and oil until everything is mixed well.. Add in the milk and pumpkin puree, followed by the dry ingredients. Remember not to overmix and stir everything until just evenly combined. Fold in your chopped chocolate last.Pour your batter into your pan and sprinkle the top with a bit of rolled oats. Place the loaf into the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Once done, let the bread cool for 10 minutes before serving.

CBD Pie Cups

When the Fall season comes around, warm and delicious pies come to mind, so what better way to celebrate than with mini bite-sized pie cups? We found this easy Apple Pie Cookie Cups recipe from Real Housemoms and added our own “flavor” to it. You can also sub the apples for any other pie filling fruits such as lemon, cherry, blueberry, or even strawberry!

Ingredients:

Pie Cups

Pie Filling

  • 5 large apples or about 4-5 cups of your choice of fruit, chopped))
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (omit if not using apples)
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (omit if not using apples)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup of water

Instructions:

Pie Cups

First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees F and grease two muffin trays. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugars together until they’re fluffy,, then add in your eggs and vanilla flavored CBD oil drops.

Once the wet ingredients are combined, set the mixer on low and add in your flour, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. Mix in the oats last.

Spoon about 3 tbsp of batter into the bottom of each muffin cup. Form the dough into a bowl shape by pressing it down into the bottom and up along the sides. If the dough is a bit too wet and sticky to create the bowl, put it in the fridge for 20 minutes to firm up.

Bake the cups for 15 to 18 minutes or until they’re golden at the edges. Let cool for 20 minutes before you try to take them out of the muffin tins and filling.

Pie Filling

For the filling, toss your fruit, sugars, spices (if using), and cornstarch together. Add the mixture to a saucepan or skillet over medium heat along with your melted butter. Gently stir your fruits, add in the water and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.

The filling is ready once the fruits soften and the mixture caramelizes.. Spoon the fruit pie filling into each cup and serve warm or at room temperature.

Which of these three easy and comforting Fall CBD recipes are you most excited to try? Any of these are sure to make you feel warm and cozy.

Do you have any fall recipes you’d like us to add a CBD twist to? Let us know in the comments section below!

It’s been called the mother of all cannabinoids and the “stem cell” of the hemp plant, but what is CBG exactly? And why should you be excited about it?

Let’s find out.

What is CBG?

A lesser-known and elusive cannabinoid, CBG (cannabigerol) is one of more than 100 found in the cannabis plant.

Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds that interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system, either directly or indirectly. This can result in a number of benefits and effects depending on the cannabinoid in question, including mood regulation, improved concentration, and the relief of muscle and joint discomfort.

While the better-known cannabinoids, CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), are more abundant, CBG is found in much smaller quantities in both hemp and marijuana. Due to its low concentrations (less than 1% in marijuana and less than 2% in hemp), it’s considered a minor cannabinoid.

But here’s where it gets interesting. CBG was first identified in 1964 by Israeli scientists, but it wasn’t until years later that Japanese researchers learned that CBG actually starts life as CBGA (cannabigerolic acid), the precursor to the acidic forms of CBD and THC (CBDA and THCA).

This means that CBGA is the parent cannabinoid from which all the other plant-based cannabinoids are derived (hence the nicknames mentioned at the start of the post). And with a little bit of heat and time, CBGA, THCA, and CBDA are all converted to the active versions: CBG, THC, and CBD, respectively.

So Why the Sudden Interest in CBG?

Cannabigerol has come to the fore recently for two main reasons:

  1. Cannabis growers have started experimenting with plant cross-breeding and extraction methods, leading to far higher yields of CBG oil than was previously possible; and
  2. Early and promising research into the efficacy of CBG has the industry all abuzz (more on that shortly).

CBG vs CBD: What’s the Difference?

Before we look at the potential benefits of CBG, you might be wondering how it differs from CBD. Well, the key distinction appears to be the way in which they influence your endocannabinoid system.

While they both seem to indirectly interact with the CB1 receptors found in your brain, preventing other chemical messengers from binding with them, they take a different approach to the CB2 receptors found in your immune system.

Unlike CBD, CBG directly binds with those receptors, which may stimulate a number of physiological responses different to those produced by CBD and THC.

CBG does, however, share some similarities with CBD. They’re both non-intoxicating and appear to have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.

What Are the Benefits of CBG?

We don’t yet understand the full effects of CBG on the human body—but the limited research that has been undertaken looks encouraging.

Here’s where we might see CBG benefiting us in the future:

  • Relieving Glaucoma Symptoms – A 2009 study found that both CBG and THC helped to relieve pressure in the eye. The study also notes that, unlike THC, CBG didn’t affect sleep phases.
  • Combating Inflammation – Like many other cannabinoids, CBG may have anti-inflammatory properties. A 2013 study on mice observed that CBG was effective in decreasing bowel inflammation.
  • Protecting Neurons – A 2015 study found that CBG protected neurons in mice with Huntington’s disease.
  • Stimulating Appetite – Many people suffering from chronic illness find that their appetite is significantly reduced. And while medical marijuana high in THC remains a popular appetite stimulant, a 2016 study suggests that CBG could offer a non-psychoactive alternative. Purified CBG was found to stimulate appetite in rats, increasing both the number and size of meals consumed.

Is CBG Oil Legal?

Like CBD, the legality of CBG rests with how it was sourced.

If it was extracted from industrial hemp and contains only trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) then it’s legal to purchase in all 50 US states, and in many countries worldwide.

However, if it was derived from marijuana plants and contains more than 0.3% THC, it may be deemed illegal in certain US states (and at a federal level in general), and also banned from certain countries around the globe.

So it always pays to read the label!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 ¼ oz. package of dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cup flour
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Oil for the pan
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • CBD Chocolate Bar (melted)
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream for brushing
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup confection’s sugar sifted
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Frozen raspberries (optional)

In a small saucepan, heat milk and ½ cup water until warm. In a large bowl, whisk yeast, sugar, and 1 cup of flour. Whisk in warm milk, cover, and set aside for 15 minutes until the top layer is foamy. Mix your butter and salt into the mixture before gradually mixing in the rest of your flour. Spinach and Cream Cheese CBD Breakfast Tarts

Taking a spin at an original recipe from theendlessmeal.com, we substituted their asparagus, goat cheese, and cherry tomato recipe for our own spinach and cream cheese creation. This is one brunch idea that will surely get your guests talking.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion thinly sliced
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • Flour for dusting
  • 1 package of frozen spinach (defrosted, and drained)
  • 1 package of cream cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • A couple of drops of your favorite CBD tincture

In a large frying pan, add onion and cook until onions are translucent. Add garlic powder and drained spinach to the mix, then set aside for it to cool slightly. In another bowl, put the onion and spinach inside before adding the package of cream cheese. Salt and pepper to season.

Roll out your puff pastry dough on a well-floured surface to 9 x 11 inches. Place the dough on a parchment-lined baking tray before adding your toppings. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees, then spread your spinach, onion, and cream cheese mixture, leaving 1-inch space at the edges. Bake for 25 minutes or until puff pastry is puffed and golden. Remove tart from the oven and let cool before serving.

Springtime CBD Cauliflower Risotto

This first dish has been adapted from a wonderful low carb cauliflower risotto recipe by food science expert, Jessica Gavin.

Traditionally, risotto is quite time-consuming to make. But by substituting arborio rice for cauliflower rice, Jessica has found a way to whip it up in half the time, and with far fewer calories. And with a couple of simple substitutions, we’re adding CBD to the mix to elevate this moreish meal to new levels of comfort.

When it comes to super quick, tasty and easy healthy spring recipes, this one’s a winner!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 15ml of Natural-flavor CBD Oil Drops
  • 1/2 cup of diced yellow onions
  • 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup of chopped asparagus
  • 1 cup of grated zucchini
  • 1/2 cup of green peas
  • 1 cup of unsalted vegetable stock
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup of chopped parsley
  • Salt & pepper to season
  • Juice of half a lemon (optional)

Ingredients for the cauliflower rice

  • 1 large head of cauliflower, finely chopped or grated to produce 4 cups-worth.

Directions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat in a large, non-stick skillet. Add the mushrooms and cook until tender. Set aside.
  2. Next, reduce the heat to medium and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add the onion and garlic. Sauté until soft and translucent.
  3. Add the cauliflower rice. Stir thoroughly, coating the rice with the oil and the onions. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the peas, zucchini and asparagus. Increase the heat to medium-high.
  5. Pour in the stock. Stir frequently, allowing the vegetables to cook. The liquid should begin to evaporate.
  6. Cook until the cauliflower is tender (around 6-8 minutes). Only a small amount of liquid should be left at the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Switch off the heat. Add the cheese and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  8. Allow it to cool slightly, then add the cooked mushrooms and the CBD oil. Stir to combine and taste. Use the lemon juice to combat the earthy undertones of the CBD if you find it too overpowering.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve.

IMPORTANT: Avoid exposing CBD oil directly to high heat. High heat can make CBD taste very bitter, compromises its potency, and impacts its overall effectiveness. Let the risotto cool for a minute or two before adding the CBD oil.

Of course, we’ve added our own unique spin by incorporating natural-flavor CBD oil (and we’ve swapped the bacon for pancetta because we’re purists—but use bacon if you can’t find it).

This is one soothing springtime spaghetti dish you won’t soon forget.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. of whole-wheat spaghetti
  • 4 oz. of pancetta
  • 2 cups of fresh garden peas (or frozen, thawed before use)
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground pepper
  • 15ml of Natural-flavor CBD Oil Drops

Directions

  1. Fill a large saucepan with water and bring to the boil. Add the spaghetti and cook until tender (check the spaghetti box for cooking times). Around 3 minutes before the spaghetti is ready, stir in the peas and half the minced garlic.
  2. While the spaghetti is cooking, fry the pancetta with the rest of the garlic in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook until crisp. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, add the eggs, 1/2  a cup of Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Whisk until combined.
  4. Add the pancetta to the egg mixture.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and drain the pasta, retaining around 3/4 of a cup of water. Add the egg mixture to the saucepan and stir quickly, making sure the eggs don’t scramble.
  6. Stir in the CBD oil and serve. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan for good measure.

Healthy Panna Cotta with Vanilla CBD Oil

Three words: healthy panna cotta. Yes, dreams do come true.

Our take on this layered treat brings vanilla-flavored CBD oil to the party. It quietly complements the strawberry and coconut flavors already present in the recipe by Grace Parisi on MyRecipes.com (our inspiration for this springtime CBD dessert).

There are quite a few steps involved, but we promise it’s worth it!

Ingredients for the strawberry gelatin

  • 3/4 cup of sliced strawberries
  • 1 teaspoon of gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup of coconut water
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice

Ingredients for the coconut panna cotta:

  • 3/4 teaspoon of gelatin
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 1/2 cup of full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup of light coconut milk
  • 2 and a 1/2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 15ml of Vanilla-flavored CBD Oil Drops

Ingredients for the topping

  • 2 cups of sliced strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice

Directions

To make the strawberry gelatin:

  1. Start by sprinkling 1 teaspoon of gelatin over 1 tablespoon of water in a small bowl.
  2. Next, combine the granulated sugar, lemon juice, and strawberries in a saucepan. Set aside for 5 minutes, allowing the strawberries to absorb the juice. Mash the mixture and place the pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Bring to a simmer, then remove from heat. Add the gelatin mixture and stir until the gelatin dissolves.
  4. Strain through a fine sieve into a measuring cup. Extract as much liquid as possible. Discard any pieces of fruit left in the sieve.
  5. Divide the liquid evenly into four wine glasses. Refrigerate for approximately one hour, or until set.

To make the coconut panna cotta:

  1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the water in a small bowl.
  2. Combine the coconut milk, granulated sugar, CBD oil, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Gently heat and bring to a simmer. Remove the pan from the heat.
  3. Add the gelatin mixture and stir until it dissolves.
  4. Cool to room temperature.
  5. Pour the panna cotta mixture evenly over the previously prepared strawberry gelatin in the chilled wine glasses. Refrigerate for approximately one hour, or until set.

To make the topping:

  1. Combine the strawberries and remaining ingredients into a small bowl.
  2. Toss together gently.
  3. Divide evenly between the wine glasses.

A Brief Guide to Buying CBD Oil in Austria

Austria’s relationship status with CBD? It’s complicated.

Prior to 2018, CBD was perfectly legal to buy and sell, so long as the THC levels were below 0.3%. However, this position was revised by the government, meaning it’s now illegal to use CBD in edible products and cosmetics, although it can still be purchased as an “aromatherapy product”.

Is CBD Oil legal in Austria?

  • LEGAL – Low-THC CBD oil is legal to purchase as an aromatherapy product in Austria.
  • LEGAL – Cannabis for medical use is legal in Austria, but difficult to obtain.
  • NOT LEGAL – Food supplements and cosmetic products containing CBD are not legal in Austria.
  • NOT LEGAL – Recreational cannabis use has been decriminalized but remains illegal.

The recent prohibition of CBD in Austria means CBD food and cosmetic products are no longer available, and selling these products is against the law. No new legislation was passed to enforce this ban—rather, it’s a new interpretation of the rules already in place.

This does mean that CBD products sold as essential oils remain unaffected by the ban and perfectly legal to buy and sell in Austria (provided the amount of THC does not exceed 0.3%).

Austria’s Possession Laws

The possession of small amounts of cannabis for personal use was decriminalized in Austria in 2016. It is currently legal to grow a small number of cannabis plants at home, and it is no longer a criminal offense to smoke cannabis in public.

However, buying, selling, possessing or gifting cannabis remains illegal in Austria. The maximum sentence for possession of amounts deemed to exceed ‘personal use’ is one-year imprisonment.

Is CBD hemp oil legal in Austria?

Hemp can be legally grown in Austria, so long as it does not exceed that 0.3% THC threshold. The hemp varieties produced in Austria are typically used for textiles and building materials.

Under the current CBD prohibition, CBD hemp oil should be considered illegal when found in a food supplement or cosmetic product, but legal to purchase as an essential oil.

In summary

The bottom line: The current Austrian government has taken a dim view of all things cannabis, and this has extended to the sale of CBD products.

However, this has yet to result in a blanket ban of CBD in general, with many products still available and legal to purchase both online and off.

Before you buy, we highly recommend conducting your own research into the effects and benefits of CBD, reading our product reviews, and checking out our in-depth guide to CBD.

A Brief Guide to Buying CBD Oil in Canada

As of October 2018, cannabis is legal in Canada, both medically and recreationally. So, it’s safe to assume that CBD oil is also legal, right?

The answer’s yes. Sort of.

You see, CBD oil is legal to buy in Canada, but it’s also highly regulated and its availability is restricted.

Unfortunately, because of these regulations and restrictions, Healthy Hemp Oil is currently unable to ship to Canada. Please check the countries we ship to for more information.

Is CBD Oil legal in Canada?

  • LEGAL – Low-THC CBD oil is legal to buy in Canada with a valid prescription.
  • LEGAL – Medical cannabis is legal in Canada with a valid prescription.
  • LEGAL – Recreational cannabis is legal in Canada.

Under the Cannabis Act (2018), CBD is considered a controlled substance, and CBD products are strictly regulated and only legal when sold in compliance with the Act. This includes CBD derived from hemp.

This means that Canadian citizens over the age of 18 can only legally purchase CBD oil if:

  • They’re registered medical patients with a valid prescription from their healthcare provider; and
  • They’re purchasing the CBD oil from a Licensed Producer.

These rules also prohibit bringing CBD products into the country. For instance, you cannot buy CBD oil in the US and cross the border back into Canada with it, nor can you import CBD via an online retailer. It must be purchased from a Licensed Producer in Canada, and only with a valid prescription.

Canada’s Possession Laws

Following the introduction of the Cannabis Act in 2018, Canada became only the second nation (after Uruguay) to fully legalize marijuana. This meant that individuals aged 18 and over could legally possess up to 30 grams of cannabis.

Sanctions for possessing over the maximum amount vary depending on the situation, from warnings and tickets for minor offenses to criminal prosecution and jail time for more serious indiscretions.

Is CBD hemp oil legal in Canada?

It is legal to grow hemp in Canada, provided you have the appropriate license. However, hemp producers may not extract CBD themselves unless they also have a cannabis processing or research license.

CBD hemp oil is legal and available to buy in Canada but it is subject to the restrictions and regulations outlined above.

Where can I buy CBD Oil in Canada?

Currently, Canadians can only purchase CBD oil from licensed cannabis producers, and only with a valid prescription.

Before adding CBD to your daily routine, we recommend conducting your own research into the effects and benefits of CBD, checking out unbiased product reviews, and reading our in-depth guide to CBD.

In summary

The bottom line: CBD oil is legal to buy in Canada, but only from Licensed Producers, and only with a valid prescription.

However, it is expected that once the Cannabis Act is fully implemented, availability and access will improve. Here at Healthy Hemp Oil, we’re keeping a close eye on things north of the border, and we hope to resume shipping to Canada in the future.

A Brief Guide to Buying CBD Oil in Costa Rica

Like a number of its Central American neighbors, Costa Rica does not currently have any CBD rules and regulations enshrined in law. Information regarding the legality of CBD in the country is thin on the ground, while the laws surrounding cannabis are vague at best.

So, what’s the deal? We’ve done some digging to try and find the answer.

Is CBD Oil legal in Costa Rica?

  • LEGAL – Low-THC CBD oil is legal to buy and use in Costa Rica.
  • NOT LEGAL – Recreational cannabis appears to have been decriminalized but remains illegal.
  • NOT LEGAL – Medicinal cannabis is not currently legal in Costa Rica, but that looks set to change.

The general consensus is that CBD oil is legal in Costa Rica, provided that it does not contain more than 0.3% THC.

If you’re traveling into Costa Rica, you shouldn’t have any issues bringing low-THC CBD oil with you. However, you’re unlikely to find CBD products widely available for sale in the country at this time.

The good news is, where medicinal cannabis is concerned at least, there’s a bill waiting to be heard by the Costa Rican National Assembly (you can read about it here, in Spanish). If passed, the bill would legalize cannabis and hemp production for domestic medical purposes.

And in July 2019, the Costa Rican Ministry of Health issued the first CBD oil registry, making it increasingly likely that CBD businesses will be able to operate in the country in the not-so-distant future.

Costa Rica’s Possession Laws

The legality of cannabis isn’t exactly clear in Costa Rica. According to news outlets, it’s illegal to produce and sell on a large scale, and it’s also illegal to carry more than a small amount (thought to be about one-quarter of an ounce).

If you’re caught in possession of small amounts of cannabis, the police will most likely confiscate the drug. In the case of larger amounts, you may find yourself under arrest.

Is CBD hemp oil legal in Costa Rica?

It’s not currently legal to grow hemp in Costa Rica, although the aforementioned bill looks set to change that.

However, it would appear that CBD hemp oil is legal to buy and use in Costa Rica, so long as the THC levels are below 0.3%.

Where can I buy CBD Oil in Costa Rica?

You can buy hemp-derived CBD products from the Healthy Hemp Oil online store and have CBD oil shipped directly to your door in Costa Rica. Browse our extensive range of CBD oil products, including tinctures, supplements, sprays and edibles, all offered at affordable prices.

Before purchasing, we recommend conducting your own research into the effects and benefits of CBD, checking out our product reviews, and reading our in-depth guide to CBD.

In summary

The bottom line: Everything points to Costa Rica falling in line with most other countries worldwide—if the CBD oil product in question contains only trace amounts of THC, you’re in the clear.

Just remember that importing CBD products into a country with no clear and consistent rules and regulations could result in delays or seizure of packages at the border.
