With the air getting crisper and the leaves changing color, fall is truly upon us. That also means that Halloween is right around the corner. Filled with costumes, thrills, and pumpkins left and right, All Hallows Eve is as good a time as any to spend time with your friends and enjoy some sweet cannabis. Here are some ways that you can have a fun, safe, cannabis-filled Halloween this year.
1. Enjoy some cannabis candies
Whether you’re young, old, or somewhere in between, it’s not Halloween without an unhealthy amount of sweets and sugary treats. You can easily find cannabis gummies, chocolates, and hard candies or you can even make your own sweet edibles. This allows you to control the ingredients that go into your candy, including the amount of CBD.
Fortunately, you don’t need to be a culinary genius to create candy edibles. For easy CBD chocolate, all you need is:
– 100 grams of chocolate
– Chopped nuts, dried fruit, and other toppings (optional)
– Your favorite CBD tincture or oil
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, which comprises a glass or porcelain bowl placed over a pot of boiling water. The chocolate goes into the bowl, and steam from the boiling water will gently melt the chocolate. Stir in some chopped nuts or dried cranberries along with a few drops of your CBD tincture, making sure to stir thoroughly to spread out your CBD evenly. Pour it into your favorite candy molds and place in the fridge to harden and set.
2. Have a horror movie marathon
Halloween is all about thrills and chills, so invite some friends over for a horror movie marathon along with some cannabis. Depending on the strain, your paranoia may be up, which will make those jump scares all the more effective, but even the calmer strains can have you feeling more of the scares. At worst, you can put on your favorite corny B-movies of the horror genre (Trolls 2 is highly recommended) and have fun riffing, laughing, and munching on popcorn.
3. Don’t forget the costume party
The cannabis-related costumes are nearly endless. There’s the simple tie-dye-wearing hippie and the giant marijuana leaf. Wrap yourself in toilet paper and go as a human-sized blunt. If you have a friend or partner, you can dress as Bluntman and Chronic of Kevin Smith fame or Abbi and Ilana from Broad City. Get creative, but remember to be respectful.
4. Make a pumpkin bong
The jack o’ lantern is a true symbol of Halloween, and pumpkins are fruitful throughout the season. You can take your pumpkin carving skills to the next level with an easy, environmentally friendly pumpkin bong. All you need is:
– A pumpkin
– Some basic carving equipment
– A drill, screwdriver, or skewer
– Your favorite strain of weed
– A down stem glass piece (optional)
Scoop out a small bowl into the side of the pumpkin close to the top. Avoid going too deep that you break through the meat of the pumpkin. If you do, don’t worry. Just plug the hole and try again. If you’re using a down stem glass piece from your bong, forget the bowl and carve a hole that’s small enough to fit the down stem snug and tight. It’s better to start the hole small and work outward as you go.
If you went the bowl route, use your drill, screwdriver, skewer, or other hole-making tool to poke a small hole into the center of the bowl at a 45-degree angle. The hole should go all the way to the center of the pumpkin.
Using your same drilling implement, poke another hole on a separate side of the pumpkin. This is your carb. Make sure this also goes straight to the center of the pumpkin.
Directly opposite from the bowl, poke another hole at a 45-degree angle for your mouthpiece. This should also go puncture into the pumpkin’s center.
From there, just pack in your bowl and let it rip. If you’re lucky, you’ll get some of that seasonal pumpkin flavor with every inhale. While this is surprisingly sturdy, your pumpkin will eventually rot.
5. Infuse your pumpkin seeds
Of course, if you’re cutting into a pumpkin, you may as well save all those seeds for a tasty and surprisingly nutritious treat. Pumpkin seeds are rich in fiber and a variety of vitamins and minerals, and you can even infuse them with some CBD oil for added health benefits.
For the basic pumpkin seed treat, combine CBD oil and some salt into a bowl and stir until it’s all evenly mixed. Throw in your pumpkin seeds, tossing them so that they are all well-coated with the oil. Place the seeds on a parchment-lined baking tray and put into the oven at 350 degrees. Every 15 minutes, stir the seeds around. Let them sit until they are lightly golden brown. For more flavor, add some garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce to the mix. If you have more of a sweet tooth, use brown sugar, sugar, and cinnamon.
The great thing about cannabis is that you can enjoy it year-round. Just make sure to stay safe, be responsible, and stock up plenty of non-CBD candy for trick-or-treaters.
